TITLE: How absurd

How absurd
that grown men weep in your presence.
How curious
that broken whores feel clean.
How perplexing,
that the world’s greatest minds
bow in wonder at the magnitude of your thoughts.
How strange
that literary giants read your word in awe.
How compelling,
that those who were lost and hopeless
say they were found by you,
find new hope in you.
That those whose eyes were blind
say they now see.
That lives that had no purpose
become passionately aware
of your purpose for them.
How odd,
that completely rational people
can accept such illogical things.
That the questioning ones
stop asking.
That the cold and callous ones
are compelled to do acts
of mercy inspired by their love for you.

A kingdom of opposites.
A kingdom upside down.
How absurd,
how curious,
how strange.

Now you may argue, ignore, disapprove, rationalize, wonder...
...ponder, consider, question, compare...
But the questions remain
hanging there, begging a response:

In the company of these witnesses,
in the face of these stories,
in the testimony of these people,
what do you believe?

Is God dead?

Can God reach down and change lives?

Can God make a difference?

Or is it all absurd?
