I have not written poetry in such a long time that I am trying to stir myself up again here. I am not sure the audience that this targets.
A Former No One
“Peace be still!”, was the words that He spoke,
And in a single moment the storms died down.
“I repent!”, was the words that I cried,
And in a split second my lost soul was found.
How could words as simple as these,
Command nature to obey and bring lost men home?
How can God love us so much that He promises
Sinful men that He’ll never leave them alone.
Why would God take His Son and make him a ransom
for people who have broken His Laws and rejected His Son?
Why would Christ suffer humiliation, torture, rejection,
And then hang on the Cross until it was finished, and all was done?
I will never know the answer to His love for man,
But I will walk with Him, even if I don’t quite understand.
No one else ever loved me enough to lay down and die for me.
No one would dare purchase this sinner or give up their life to set me free.
The one thing I know, is that I’m loved by the King,
And His Father the Creator, and makes me something.
I’m fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Son,
Who died and rose again, for me, a former no one.
