A poem about the coming birth of Jesus as told in the book of Luke and Mary's prophetic words during her encounter with Elizabeth her cousin.
Unto Nazareth of Galilee
A message to present
To a virgin called Mary
Gabriel was sent

A man called Joseph
Of Davidís house
Mary was soon
To be his spouse

Blessed are you
Amongst all women kind
Highly favored of God
He spoke to her mind

Fear not dear Mary
A child youíll conceive
Many hearts will He turn
Many will believe

Son of the Highest
Great shall He be
Born of the spirit
To set all men free

Of the house of Jacob
Forever will defend
And His kingdom reign
Will never end

To the angel she spoke
How can this be
Iíve known no man
No mansí known me

The power of the highest
And the Holy Ghost
Shall make this child
So no man can boast

Elizabeth your cousin
Even though old
Has conceived a child
You have been told

For nothing is impossible
For God the King
Hear my words
And believe this thing

I am His handmaid
Let it be so
All things are possible
This I know

The next day she arose
To the country with haste
To see Elizabeth
No time did she waste

To the house of Zachariah
Elizabeth to greet
Her womb did jump
When the two did meet

Blessed are you
Amongst all woman kind
Why has the Lord
Paid me this kind

My soul doth magnify
And my spirit rejoiced
I shall be called blessed
The angel has voiced

He that is mighty
Has done great things
He raises the lowly
And gives the downhearted wings

His mercy is on them
For that do fear
He extends his love
From year unto year

In His arm is great strength
He scatters the proud
The thoughts of their hearts
He hears them aloud

Those that are mighty
He cast from their seats
Those that are low
He shows them great feats

The hungry He fills
The rich are made poor
For those that are lost
He opens the door

Because of His mercy
Israel he stays
Protecting the innocent
All of their days

To Abraham He gave
And to all of His seed
Numbers without measure
And all that they need
