Tribute to the 911 Victims
By Anne H. Harrell
Tuesday morning on September 11, 2001 was just a normal day for most of us when we first woke up. There was nothing spectator happening until about 8:46am when the first plane hit the first tower of the World Trade Center. It wasnít long after the first hit when the second hit came hitting the second tower. I can still remember when it all happened. I was here at home getting ready for dinner guest for that night when I got a call from Markís Mom crying we have been bombed.
Turning on the TV to see just what had happen was chilling, when before my eyes on TV, the first plane hitting the first tower, being followed by the second plane hitting the second tower. With in minutes the towers came tumbling down. Our eyes for most of the day were glued to the TV wandering what was going to happen next. Was our Country in danger of war on our turf. It has been a long time since war had been in America. Please God keep war off our land, the land of the free.
My heart begun to break for the families that have just went through hell didnít know which way was up. Here their love one(s) have been just killed or hurt seriously. The world around them has come crashing down. Their plans have been destroyed what was left of their love one is just a vapor. Children just become fatherless or mothers or even lost both parents in a fiery crash.
There were in the Trade Center were peoples Moms, Dads, Uncles, Aunts, Grandparents and Husbands, Wives and sons and daughters, boy friends and girl friends and even young children that would not return home that evening. Many would not be counting for since they couldnít find any trace of them.
That must have been some long minutes hours and days and weeks for those families that were involved. Many families not knowing just where their love ones were. Many just praying, pleading with the dear Lord to please allow their love ones to come home. Some of the victims were found in hospitals and some wandering around aimlessly not sure who they were. God rest their poor souls.
How long O Lord will the guilty go unpunished? How long must we suffer for the guilty? Will there ever be justice for the righteous? That day between the three places that that the planes crash took close to three thousand or more lives. Many were not able to be recognized by their families as they lay in hospital beds. Many families were claiming the hurt not sure that they were their families.
America that day was brought to her knees. We had to proclaim Christ as our Lord and Savior. That day all were brought to prayer for our families and for our country and our fellow man. America showed that the Lord was the Holy One who would see us through our darkest hour. Americans from all over were coming together helping to find the lost and hurt in the towers and the pentagon and the plane crash in Pennsylvania God rest their weary souls.
Here five years later still fresh on our memories the pain and heart ache that followed that day. The disbelief that anything so heart breaking could ever happen on our soil; America. In my forty-five years on this earth I have never known such hanus crime as was preformed that day. May the terrorists rest in hell for the entire pain and agony place upon the American families. May the Lord had mercy upon the innocent that died for America on September 11, 2001. They did not die in vain.
