Old Faithful is an excerpt from my collection of writings under the title "Living Water". These are devotionals centered around the theme of Jesus as our Living Water, and source of Life. Pray for exposure/publication!
OLD FAITHFUL

John 4:14
“Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst…the water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.” (MSG)

Most of us have seen pictures of Old Faithful, the most famous geyser in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. I have always wanted to visit this, our nation’s first national park, but have yet to be able to do so. I look forward to making that trip some day!

I have done some research on the geographic wonders in this park, and I must say the geysers fascinate me the most. Old Faithful is not the tallest or largest geyser in the park, but its eruptions are the most reliable at intervals between 65-92 minutes. This geyser was named in 1870, and was the first geyser to receive a name.

Psalm 85:11
”Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.” NIV

Old Faithful shoots 3,700-8,400 gallons of boiling water per eruption, at a height of 106-184 feet. Each eruption lasts 1 ½ - 5 minutes. This reliable old geyser is located in the Upper Geyser Basin within the park system.

I’m reminded of God’s faithfulness when I hear the term “old faithful”. He is our Ancient of Days Whose faithfulness never ends! There is a continual spring of Living Water flowing from the Savior!

Psalm 36:5
”Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” NIV

People that go visit the geyser Old Faithful expect to see its splendor! They don’t wonder if it will erupt, for they know it will! History proves it to be consistent. That’s the way we should view God. No doubts. Time has proven His faithfulness! He is consistently reliable…

We have no reason to suspect that Old Faithful will stop erupting. I’m sure our children’s children will some day have the opportunity to go visit Yellowstone National Park and see the same geyser that erupted 100 plus years ago!

God’s faithfulness will continue throughout all future generations. That you can count on.

Psalm 119:90
”Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth,
and it endures.” NIV

Old Faithful. Springs of Living Water from the Ancient of Days…go visit. He’s waiting to show you what He can do.
