TITLE: Cross Purpose

Thoughts on the Cross, Mary and my child.
I‘ve been thinking…
really thinking
about
Your Cross,
In my private pain
I think of Your Cross...
I see that
my own child suffered wounds
so similar to You,
My Saviour Son,
that we could only look at one another
(and not dare tell a soul what we saw
for fear they’d call us crazy.).

We bore her to her cross
(though padded and wheeled
it was a cross nonetheless.),
and sat beside her,
and stood beside her
and I lay beside her...
(sometimes)
until she was taken away.

This didn't happen often, but when she was on her Cross of suffering,
her bed of affliction,
her isle of isolation,
I thought You might be here with us.

It was then that
I began to think of Your mother
and I have gone much further than thinking.

Now I stand beneath Your Cross Lord.
My eyes lift up to you...
I look to Mary too
and
I stand with Mary.
I weep with Mary.
I feel Your tears for her
Your protection for her
and Your love for her
I share that with Your mother, Lord.
Shoulder to shoulder
we stand together
a sisterhood of sorrow
and hope.

I think of Mary often.

There is the Creed too, Lord,
You have heard of it, I’m sure.
In Nicea the men gathered
and filled out the form
on all we are to believe.
They did a good job Lord and there is this one
part,
that really gets to me...
more than all the rest,
it is the part about
“The Communion of Saints”.
It says we share this Communion
with You
because of the Cross,
and because of the Cross,
I am in Communion with You
and because of the Cross
I share Your communion
with her,
because
she is a saint,
a Real,
Living,
Eternal
Saint.
The Creed You let be written says so.
I really
Love
that part Lord.
And all this
that I am beginning to see
is because
of the
Cross.
None of it would be
without the Cross.
