By: Ricky Flowers

After the guns stopped firing
The cannons stopped booming
The bombs stopped exploding
There was quiet on the battlefield

The enemy retreated
The invaders withdrew
All that was left
Were the dead, and You

He began at one end
Laid his eyes on each one
Counting the bodies
What had mankind done?

Tears welled in his eyes
For the dead were so young
How could the world
Have got it so wrong

He hurt for each one
For their families back home
But a better place awaited
For some to roam

As He reached the other side
The sun fell below the horizon
He raised his hands to the heavens
He cried for each one

He turned and faced the men
Who had given life for cause
Raised their souls to heaven
Knowing all was not lost

He would be there for the next
To bring his children home
He assures the faithful
Will never walk alone

In peace or in war
He will not forsake
If eternal life he offers
You will freely take.

God bless all those who have given their life for freedom, that we may continue to worship freely The Creator of all that we have and all that we are.
