This is written for pre K. Cheeky and Angela are circle who live in a town called shapeville. There are heart shaped teachers and octagon shaped police officers. Tell me what you think!
One day Cheeky and Angela were playing in the back yard when Mommy called them to come inside. She was very excited about something. Mommy sat down and Angela climbed on to her lap. “What is it Mommy?” she asked. Mommy smiled and said, “The doctor just called and told me that you are going to have a new baby brother or sister soon.” “When will she come?” Angela asked. “Not for a few months yet. God put a baby in Mommy’s tummy so it could grow and pretty soon it will be born,” Mommy said.
One day Angela was sitting on her Mommy’s lap listening to her favorite book when she felt Mommy’s tummy move. “What was that?” she asked Mommy. “I know what that was,” Cheeky said. “It was my new baby brother or sister,” Cheeky said. “Yes, you are right Cheeky,” Mommy said. “How much longer will I have to wait?” Angela asked. “Not long now,” Mommy said.
Mommy’s tummy got bigger and bigger and sometimes Cheeky and Angela got to feel the baby move. Angela found it harder and harder to sit on Mommy’s lap because the baby was getting so big.
One day Daddy called Angela and Cheeky over and told them, “Mommy got a picture of the baby inside her and they said that there were two babies inside her. She is going to have twins. Do you know what twins are?” “Two boys at school in my class are twins,” Cheeky said. “Last week my Sunday school teacher told us about Jacob and Esau in the Bible and they were twins,” Angela said. “Yes you are right!” Daddy said.
One morning Mommy came into the house and told Daddy, “I think it is time for the babies to be born. Call Grandma and tell her to come watch Angela and Cheeky for me please.” Daddy called Grandma and when she got there Mommy and Daddy went to the hospital.
Later that night, just before supper the phone rang. Grandma answered it. When she got off the phone she came into the playroom and said, “That was Daddy. You have a new baby brother and sister. After supper we can go see them,” Grandma said.
After supper Cheeky and Angela went to see Mommy and the babies. When they got to the hospital, it was quiet. They got on the elevator and went up to the place where the babies were. They peeked in the nursery, but there were no babies there. “Where are they?” Angela asked. “They are probably in your mommy’s room with her,” Grandma said.
They found Mommy’s room and walked in. Mommy was holding a little baby brother and Daddy was holding the little baby sister. “Come meet your new baby brother and sister,” Daddy said.
Angela went over to Mommy and peeked into the blanket. “He’s so tiny,” Angela said. “Babies start out really small, but then they grow to be big kids like you and Cheeky,” Daddy said. “What are their names?” Cheeky asked. “Well Mommy and I decided to name them Sarah and Samuel,” Daddy said.
“May I hold Sarah,” Angela asked. “Yes sit down and daddy will show you how to hold her,” Mommy said. Angela was really careful as she held Sarah. She gave her a gentle little kiss and said, “Hi Sarah, I’m Angela your big sister.”
