May Christ be All
May Christ be all that sears my longing heart
with passion's flame, and love’s purest desire;
make diamond's sparkling as the deepest dark,
purge every tempting thought with holy fire.
May Christ be all that quells the gnawing pangs
consuming every waking thought and breath;
resolve the doubting questions that harangue,
and wholly fill them to their height and breadth
May Christ be all that quenches thirst’s command
to leave me wanting in this desert's heat;
prove sin's mirage as nothing more than sand,
revealing hope, and making joy complete.
May Christ be all, in every way, the one,
my only source of strength 'til life is done.
