A single rose, a starlit night, a bottle of rain.
A silent wish, a gentle kiss, a sweet refrain.
Words of love immortalized with parchment and quill,
At 'morrows end the knowledge that you love me still.
My heart's desire, my love, you see-
Is romance in simplicity.
Hand me a rose without a thorn,
Give me a message of love untorn.
Promise the spring without the rain
And I'll give you a life untouched by pain.
We thought as one, said you, 'twas true.
The one we thought as, alas, 'twas you.
