TITLE: Crying in the Dark

Writing poetry was a way of expressing pain throughout my life. I never published them. I wrote Crying in the Dark at the lowest point of my life and vowed never to show it to anyone unless an answer came. I didn't really believe that it ever would. Prayer of the Spirit followed one month later when I was led to Jesus. I still write to the Lord about my inner pain and wait for an answer. Sometimes it is years before that happens, but when it does I see His Grace and Mercy in my life and long to share it with others.
Crying in the Dark

Tempestuous seas are tempered as He stills
the riven dawn,
Lay me deep in darkness Lord with
no-one there to mourn,
I shall not see the eagles soar or hear
again the lark,
For I am crying here Lord,
crying in the dark.

No petalled path to show Lord, the way
I used to be,
Lay me in an empty place
and turn way from me,
To sleep the sleep of ages, no more
to strive or fail,
No conflict or confusion within
the Tempter's trail.

He showed me all creation in it's
perfect majesty,
The mountains in the morning mist
the shining far-flung sea,
Sweet children of my flesh He gave
to join the heavenward throng,
And all creation danced with my heart
when I was strong.

Lay me in a secret place, where you cannot be,
Cover with my guilt and shame
the other side of me,
Turn your face and see no more
the stain of Satan's mark,
For I am crying here Lord,
crying in the dark......

Prayer of the Spirit

The life that I lived is no more,
My tortured spirit is still,
I sleep a dreamless sleep
Enfolded in the Father,
I am no more alone.
The clamour of demons, awake, asleep,
The pain of guilt and heart are fled,
I may approach the Fatherís throne
And God hears my voice.
I am, by Him, made clean at last
And beautiful in His sight,
All that I was has passed away,
And what I may not yet know,
I understand Godís Love is all I need
Is all I have.
For the years that I have
He has made me new,
He keeps my soul in His gentle care,
For the years of my sleep
In the deep, green grass,
The Lord shall remember and find me there,
I am Ė a child of God.
