Christmas may not really be the birthday of Christ
But today can be your new birthday
O Joy supreme
If you just fall on your knees and call Him
Man may someday outlaw all salutes to our Lord
But there’s none who can ban the bravo
In Heaven’s midst
When you release your heart to receive Him
Give up, strip bare, let go, grab freedom
Let Christ fill you with the Holy Spirit
Purge, repent, forgive, forget
Take your old self off, put on new armor
Decorate your heart according to the Owner’s Good Book
With love, patience, joy, faith, and kindness
The dates we mark
Then can’t help but drift into place like glitter
Listen and read, follow and fall, get up and call
Chase all evil things away in Jesus’ name
Sing, delight, exult, reach high
O astounding Joy, found in Messiah
