TITLE: God Provides For His Children
By Debra Burchett

This was re-written to fit the format of the Blog contest. You will find it is the same article as Who is Debra Burchett
My name is Debra Burchett. I was born the forth child of Lloyd and Ruth Sanderson I married at eighteen to a christian man named Denny Bruton. We had known each other all our lives. We grew up together because our families were friends. We got married in the month of July, however we were never to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Denny was in a plane crash with his brother and God called them home. Lives are filled with many events both good and bad. I have had experiences that at the time seemed so unfair. Because God provides,  now I can see them as glorious examples of God's grace and blessings. These experiences shape who we often become. I married again a little less than a year after Denny's death. I feel he also was directed to me by God's design. We have a Son and Daughter and 4 grandchildren. We have been married 37 years. However sometimes changes happen, and he has left my life, and left many holes, which I am sure God will fill. So in a nut shell that is who I am, or is it? The real question is, who am I really? My life is so full of moments to be shared, that will reveal who I am or why I am the way you see me now. God provides so much in my life that I am only going to share today what I think is my most important life changing event. When I was 10 years old, I was invited to a backyard Vacation Bible School. I was invited by a neighbor kid that didn't want to go alone. He said, "they were giving cool aid and cookies as a treat for coming. It was 102 degrees and that sounded real good. After all, I was a 10 year old with no idea who or what God would become in my life. God used cool aid and cookies to get me there. Eph. 2:10 NIV For we are God's workmanship. created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepare in advance for us to do. The Bible tells us that God knew us even before we were formed in the womb. God provides direction for us.  Little did I know that God had chosen me and had been putting people in place so he could get his plans for our relationship rolling. That week I learned John 3:16 which taught me who I was then and who I could become. I also learned that God provides a home for us. Jesus went to heaven to prepare for me to come home. I would have a permanent home in heaven. The day I said I wanted Jesus in my heart and life ignited a hunger in me to read and know all I could about God. My 11th birthday was a few days later and I hadn't told anyone about receiving Jesus.because God provides, as a gift, I received a King James Bible. I set out to read that book cover to cover. Six months later I read the last page. I was 11 years old. Did I fully understand what I was reading? No! Not everything. I found lots of assurances and promises that I was going to need to remember very shortly in my life. I have a lot of trouble remembering references, but maybe that is so I can help share the experience of looking up passages together . The Bible has become my connection to God. Through prayer and the Bible, God often shows me what he wants me to know. I have lived through a lot of good times and bad, each time I've grown closer to God. So again the question is who am I? It really doesn't matter who I am now, God could help me become different tomorrow. With the acceptance of Christ and Baptism I get the gift of the Holy Spirit. I'm not who I once was. Now I am who God needs me to be, when he directs me. The hard part of all this is I'm still in this world and I don't always want to do the hard stuff. I do have fears. I have moved so much as a kid. I was always the outsider. When I became known, we moved and I seemed to always be saying goodbye. This experience has taught me to cherish each moment. I have had many experiences in my life as I'm sure many of you have had as well. If asked I will willingly share them with you. Sometimes if directed by God, I'll share without being asked. I love to write, however I'm yet unpublished, that too is in God's hands. I believe we are all chosen by God even before we are born. God provides for us and he puts people in place to direct us to the right path. However we still must make the first choice to believe and accept Christ. There is something important I would like you to remember about me. I will never be perfect or sinless as long as I'm in this world. I will trip up,stumble, and maybe even fall and disappoint not only you but also God. I know God will forgive me, but with people it is much harder. John 15:16 NIV You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last. Then the father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Many times I have said "why me Lord?" only to hear God whisper "I know you." Eph 3:20-21 NIV Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. According to his power that is at work within us to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever amen. Once more, who am I? I am Debra Burchett. Adopted child of God, sister to Jesus. A member of the family of God. I am someone with stories to share and new stories and memories to make. It is my great Pleasure to meet you!
