I experimented with a different form which I am not accustomed to working with and would really like to know if it worked.
PERCEPTIONS
Standing in the corner is a man.
Nothing particular is striking,
Nothing makes him stand out from the rest.
He just stands there.
He doesn’t say much.
Just watches as people pass
On the left, the right, and before him.
He just stands.
Then he holds out his hand,
As if he is begging for money.
Some think him to be a bum,
Or some worthless, homeless trash.
For those who feel what eyes cannot see,
They know it is a gesture of giving, not taking.
The out stretched hand is a gift for those
Who can see beyond the outside to the
Heart of the creation inside.
All he asks for is a chance,
For you to take a second look,
But with the eyes of the heart and not the head –
Only if you dare.
So you – what do you see?
His hand is stretched out still...
But there is something inside his hand…
For there, a nail print lies within.
Our world goes beyond what we can see.
So much hidden from our view, it seems.
But, if we look beyond the prejudice and pride,
We would have the chance of seeing love personified…
