Our Lord promises to hear and deliver those who call upon Him in prayer. (Ps. 50:15) The lyrics my fit well with a melancholy accompaniment but I picture them rolling to a hopeful crescendo in the choruses and bridge.
Black and cold Looms my guilt
As I think on hours gone by,
Troubled thoughts
And vented words
They cloud up my mind.
That’s what I bring
To You tonight.
AS I pray,
Come to my side.
Lord, I know
You hear my cry
As my cry comes to you.
Forgive me Lord,
Restore me, Lord
And I’ll rest, safe, in You.
Weighted down by my fears
As this day comes to an end
Scary scenes
Of vented rage
They torment me now.
That’s what I bring
To You tonight.
AS I pray,
Come to my side.
Lord, I know
You hear my cry
As my cry comes to you.
Forgive me Lord,
Restore me, Lord
And I’ll rest, safe, in You.
Open up my lips
And I will sing Your praise.
You promise to deliver me
And my thanks I’ll raise.
Lord, I know
You hear my cry
As my cry comes to you.
Forgive me Lord,
Restore me, Lord
And I’ll rest, safe, in You.
