Oh what a wondrous, wondrous day
When shepherds in the fields
Heard the angels say,
“Go and seek the Holy Child
Who sleeps upon the hay.”
Oh wasn’t that a wondrous day.
Oh what a sorrowful, sorrowful day
When The Lord in agony
Bowed His head to pray,
As Judas, His Disciple
Sought The Master to betray.
Oh wasn’t that a sorrowful day.
Oh what a mournful, mournful day
When Christ, the Lamb of God
Bore our sins away.
“Father, please forgive them,”
Were the words they heard Him say,
Oh wasn’t that a mournful day.
Oh what a wonderful, wonderful day
When on that early mourn
The stone was rolled away,
And Christ arose victorious,
To death and hell’s dismay.
Oh wasn’t that a wonderful day.
Oh what a glorious, glorious day
When all the Saints of God,
Clothed in white array,
Will bow before His Throne of Grace,
And worship Him for aye.
Oh won’t that be a glorious day.
