She watched her husband work, with remembrances of times gone by with father and sons working side by side. Growing, not only in the bounty they produced from their effort, but as men and in the eyes of God. It was a proud day when her eyes set sight on father and sons, bringing in the harvest together. As a family, they had turned this fallowed land into a productive and fruitful oasis. They thanked God daily for all his blessings and sang praises to his all circumfusing wisdom. Why then had he allowed this tragedy to happen to them?
The heavens began to cloud up, turning from sunny blue to a darkened gray. When the man looked up from his toiling, he saw large clouds filled with rain approach where he stood. “Better get inside, till this passes”, he thought. As he raised from his knees, he noticed his wife in the far distance, but close in love to his heart. Her cotton dress blowing in the wind, she smiled a gentle smile and waved him back towards the house. The thought of her loving embrace when he reached her, quickened his steps.
As he got closer he could see the tears no longer on her face, but still visible in her eyes.
Small drops of rain began to fall and God’s rumblings began to grow stronger. “You have come in just in time, dear husband” “Let us go inside and wait out this storm together, as we have done so many times before”. “Yes and pray for a brighter day tomorrow”, Adam said to Eve.
