Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Adam is five. He cannot wait until his next

birthday. He cannot wait until he is a big boy.

“Big boys are six!”, he shouts to his mommy.

He does not like to wait. Adam is anxious!

He does not like to wait for breakfast. He

will not sit in his chair. He ran around the

table.

Adam's mommy stops him. “Adam, sit in your

chair please.”

“No!” He ran around the table again. He

cannot wait. Adam is anxious!

Adam gets tired and sits down to eat his

breakfast. He eats in a hurry. “Adam slow

down”, his mommy says. “No!” Adam cannot wait

to finish breakfast. Adam is anxious!

After breakfast Adam needs to get ready for

school.

“Time to get dressed for school.” Adam ignores

his mommy. He got up and ran around the table

and into his bedroom. Adam wants to wear

pajamas to school. He does not want to get

dressed. Adam is anxious!

“Adam, you cannot wear pajamas to school.” He

hides under the bed. He did not want to wear

his school clothes today. He wants to hurry to

school. Adam is anxious!

“Adam, come out from under your bed. You are

going to miss the school bus.” He ran to his

closet to get his school clothes. He did not

want to miss the bus. Adam is anxious!

He gets dressed in a hurry and runs out the

front door. He wants to get to school now!

Adam is anxious!

Adam does not like to wait for the school

bus. He wants to be first at the bus stop.

Adam wants to be the first on the bus. He does

not like being last. Adam is anxious!

Adam cannot wait to get to school. He wants

the bus to go faster. He does not want to be

late.

Today is popcorn day! He loves popcorn. Adam

is anxious!

He squiggles and wiggles all the way to

school. The other children laugh at him. They

call him squiggly wiggly worm. Adam is anxious!

When Adam gets to school he is ready to jump

off the bus. “Adam, wait your turn”, the bus

driver says to him. He does not want to wait.

He wants to go to his classroom now! Adam is

anxious!

Adam walks down the hall very fast to his

classroom. His teacher is not there. Adam has

to wait for Miss Johnson. He does not like to

wait. Adam is anxious!

He sits next to the door . Adam is

frustrated. He starts untying his shoelaces and

counting to one-hundred. “One, two,one-

hundred!” Adam is anxious!

Adam jumps up when he sees Miss Johnson. It

is time to go into his classroom. He is ready

to color and sing the ABC song, and of course

eat popcorn now! Adam is anxious!

Once inside the classroom, Adam looks around

for the popcorn. “Miss Johnson, where is the

popcorn?” Miss Johnson explains popcorn will be

served during lunch.

“Popcorn now!”, Adam demands. He does not want

to wait for lunch. Adam is anxious!

Adam gets in trouble for breaking the rule and

has to sit on the timeout mat. He does not like

the timeout mat. He wants to sit with his

friends. He wants to play now! Adam is anxious!

He watches his friends color and draw. Adam

wants to join them. He did not mean to break
