TITLE: Thoughts of my earthly father.

Thoughts of my earthly father.

Lord I cannot reach him.
I told him about you,
I read your Word to Him.

He nodded in understanding,
It seemed he had received you.
I cried all night for joy.

I spoke it out that day to others,
To confirm that flicker on his face
A touch of your Spirit.

Now he turns me into someone I am not,
Angry, betrayed, defeated,
Confusion is his name.

You said we must shed the dust from our feet,
But you gave us hearts of love,
And mine is full of pain.

To me you are vast as the Heavens
And I am yours,
But what shall become of him?

I give him to you and walk away,
Not knowing where death will take him,
But I do still care.

Oh God of my heart, let forgiveness prevail
In mine as I am folded into yours,
Let it be enough to save him.
