A pop song considering how it would feel to be someone else. (If you don't like pop then just pretend it's also something else. =)) Do you think the verses and the chorus sound too much alike? Thanks for the critiques! A first draft.
1. Have you ever ever wondered what it would be like
to be someone else for a change?
Have ya never ever wondered if you could ever like
to escape when contentment feels out of range?
Do ya think it would be better to be another person?
Stronger, smarter, popular, or better looking?
If you could sing like Carrie, or swing like Babe Ruth
Have more friends or make delcious cooking?
(Chorus)
Yeah, I can't help but wonder what it would be like
If you were me... and I were you
If we could see through each other's eyes
and look at life from a whole new view
Wonder, I wonder, how we'd feel
If we could walk in the other's shoes for a day
Like the prince and the pauper, my bike for your chopper
A three-course meal for a full buffet
Who would get the better deal?
Who'd get the short end of the stick?
If only I could know.
2. Well, I can't lie, sometimes I think about it
When I get kinda tired of my weird old self
If I was someone who was a little more normal
And would fit in better on this giant toy shelf
Who would come out on top if we made the swap?
Maybe we'd be surprised at what we found out
Everyone has their own troubles and blessings
I'll just thank God for my life and hold no doubts
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
Wonder, I wonder, can't help but wonder
Wonder, I wonder, why can't I let it go?
Wonder, I wonder, would it be a blunder
Now I've wondered enough, I don't need to know
(New Chorus)
Yeah, I can't help but wonder what it would be like
If you were me... and I were you
If we could see through each other's eyes
and look at life from a whole new view
But now it doesn't matter, I like who I am
We gotta run our best in this lifelong race
Your boots feel no better than my mocassins
With God and us together we can win first place
Don't need to wonder anymore
