Her broken heart exemplifies
a journey of painful memories.
Freedom begins when
forgiveness can be afforded
her transgressor.
Dreams have been smothered
with a pillow of regrets;
only her recycled breath rescues her.
She perceives herself drowning
as she lies in her tear-soaked bed.
Yet, she is mindful that if she succumbs,
her enemy prevails.
Stripped of her identity
beyond recognition,
no longer will she grant permission
to him who controls.
