The phone call was imminent -
A balmy evening, I laid on my bed
gazing beyond open patio doors...
waiting.
Mindlessly, I took refuge in the wind
bending branches of trees in the park
just a stone's throw away.
His body had given up after
nearly eight decades;
peacefully, he journeyed that night
to the loving arms of Jesus.
Tears surfaced without pause,
but today I feel Dad's whisper when I
see trees arch and bend with the wind...
and I smile, in remembrance.
