I wrote this poem in my car. I showed up early at my son's school to pick him and my daughter up for lunch. He was running around the play ground with others boys, running after little girls. It was just one of those eternal moments.
I watched the little
boys running around the
playground trying to catch
themselves little girls.They
run, and laugh, and clap their
hands as they do when catching
bees in flower fields, cupping
their hands over flowers and
delicately encasing busy
bees- careful not to get stung;
yet with each sting, getting stronger;
unknown to them that
they are being made ready
for the future stabbing heart-stings
which come from catching girls.
