She is 90 this year, this mother of mine
And this year my goal, to feel younger than she
She lives alone, this mother of mine
On the farm where she came as a bride twenty three
He loved her, and us, never was there a doubt
Together they worked, often sunup to sundown
She helped with the milking, he with a dishtowel
They laughed in later years about those times together
Telling us girls they could always count
That when supper was over and dishes were due
If they were just quiet, we'd slip away,
hoping just hoping our job would be through
Then together alone between glass and dish
They could discuss what ever they wished.
With no interference they schemed and they planned
Together , alone, dish rag in hand,
