I wrote this and ended up laugh/crying all the ay through the end. It is special to me and hope it gets used in the future. It is unpolished but I can't bring myself to change it...
INT. BEDROOM -- STAGE PLAY

MOM 1 (JANE) is standing in front of mirror getting ready for her day. AS she puts her earrings on

MOM 1
Oh this day is going to be wonderful! All the affection and attention I can handle!
(Pause)
Oh and the free lunch to! ooo hooo hoo! Maybe they have even cooked me breakfast!

She speeds up her pace with that last thought.
The BEDROOM DOOR burst open.

TWO GIRLS are stuck in it as they try and come through at the same time. Both girls talk over the top of each other

GIRL 1 AND 2
Mom! I need to use your bathroom! Dad is in the one down stairs!

The girls fight their way through the door and blow past the mom without giving her any attention.

The mom just looks in empty expectation as they disappear into the bathroom.
The Mom turns her attention back to the mirror. Her face has now changed from joy to mild disappointment.

MOM 1
(to herself)
Well I can still hold out for breakfast.

A smile forms again on her face.

In through the DOOR walks DAVID , her husband. He is wearing a under shirt and slacks with an undone belt hanging from them. She turns to him and smiles real big. He kind of smiles back but goes to the closet. The Mom again seems disappointed but goes back to getting ready.
MOM 1 (CONT'D)
Good morning sweaty

DAD
Yeah mornín

The girls hear the dad and bust out of the bathroom like they came in. Like a mini hurricane they are gone out into the hall.
The Mom and Dad exchange a look.

MOM 1
What were you doing down stairs? I mean using their bathroom?

DAD
Oh believe me I did you a favor going down there.

He shakes his head back and forth.

DAD (CONT'D)
Never seen or smelled anything like that before wheewwee!

MOM 1
Oh stop it.

He has his shirt on now and makes his way past her without even looking at her.
Once again she turns back to the mirror. This time she has sadness in her eyes.

MOM 1 (CONT'D)
Maybe they are going to surprise me all together down stairs.

GIRL 1 AND 2
(from down stairs)
Bye mom we gotta go. Pastor John wants us their early today, remember.

The Mom steps away from the dresser and tries to shout back at them.

MOM 1
I thought we...
(door slams and garage door can be heard opening)
Would all go together today...

She slumps back and sits on the bed. Her hopes are starting to fade for her glory filled day.

The her husband pops in with a big smile on his face. This build hope in her.

DAD
Hello honey baby...

MOM 1
Yes...
She is now expecting her surprise

DAD
I forgot to tell you something..

MOM 1
Yes..
(with joyful expectation)

DAD
I am scheduled to park cars today so I have to take the truck today.

She keeps a now fake smile on her face.

MOM 1
Oh...OK. So I will take the car then?

DAD
I didnít know if you would be mad or not, I know how you like to ride next to me in the truck. I have to go right now, I am already late. Iíll see yah there.

With that he is gone.

The door closes downstairs and a truck is heard starting up.
The we hear it drive away.
The Mom finally just breaks down and starts crying. She slumps down on the floor on her knees. She is sobbing.

A booming voice interrupts her crying

GOD
Jane

She looks up with her now smeared face. Nobody is there.

Again
GOD (CONT'D)
Jane

MOM 1
Who is that?

GOD
It is the Lord Jane. Why are you crying?

MOM 1
It is mothers day and everybody forgot about me.

GOD
I know how you feel.

MOM 1
How do you know how I feel? You are not a mom.

The room gets quiet

MOM 1 (CONT'D)
Oh Iím sorry about my attitude. Forgive me.

GOD
I already have.
She smiles.

GOD (CONT'D)
Do you remember when we first met? How I had been calling you all those years but you kept going your own way?

MOM 1
Yes I do, I was very hard headed.

GOD
It took a lot of love to draw you to me. I couldnít wait for you to look my way. And when you finally did I poured even more out upon you.

MOM 1
What does this have to do with...
(she pauses)
Oh, I see, you mean that is what is going on here? I give them all this love and they just go their own way?

GOD
Yes, but wait let me show you how you are like me, allot more than you think. When they return all the love you have poured out will have been worth it. You have already been through birth pains before and when the baby is born all the pain is forgotten when it come to love. Jane think on these things today, and I will talk to you soon...oh I almost forgot...Happy Mothers day.

Silence fills the room

She stands up and starts to clean her face up.

She is encouraged and is now ready to go.

We hear the truck outside again, then the door slams, but we hear three doors.

She looks out the window and see her husband and two daughters coming to the door.

She opens the door.

MOM 1
What are you guys doing back?

DAD
Well Jim called me and told me not to worry about it since...
(he looks sheepishly to the ground)

GIRL 1 AND 2
It is mothers day!

DAD
Happy mothers day Jane

GIRL 1 AND 2
Yeah mom happy mothers day!

Looking at the girls

MOM 1
How did you guys...

GIRL 1 AND 2
Dad called us and we turned right around. We love you mom!

DAD
Are you ready? You can ride with me...if you want?

They all go to leave. The girls about ready to get in their car.

GIRL 1 AND 2
Oh and mom!

MOM 1
Yes?

GIRL 1 AND 2
Lunch is on us today! And we already invited Grandma!

A look of horror erupts on her face.
Everybody looks at her.

MOM 1
I canít believe I forgot my mom....too!

Everybody laughs as she digs for her cell phone.
She dials the number

G MA
Hello?

MOM 1
Happy Mothers Day Mom.

G MA
Thank you Jane, I was waiting on your call...
