Thank you!
Running continuously, like a willing horse, for almost nine weary days, the Spartan man broke the news of victory to Athens but warned them about the approaching enemies. " Athenians beat the Persians but they're coming for us from the south...." With a triumphant shout, he collapsed shortly, due to over-exhaustion. Historic was the incident for the Greeks who succeeded in repelling the Persians, an Eastern Power from overrunning the West, which is Europe now. Phiddipides was the man of Marathon story.
We too are invited to complete a race by fixing our eyes on the One who has gone before us. Indeed, He finished the race and pioneered our faith. Being His last words, He too declared, "It's finished!"
Also, we are advised to cast aside unnecessary life baggage to focus on the race. "Run with determination!" urged those who have gone before us.
As for me, I want to complete the course set before me, not halfheartedly or in vain. I hope to win a crown of righteousness and hear His welcome voice, " Well-done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of eternity!"
I realise that the race begins today right where I am, and it is a process, not a product on earth. Yes, I aspire to cross the finish-line. Press on! Press on! I can constantly hear His kind and loving voice.
