In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you." ~ Isaiah 12:1-6(NIV)
Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. ~ Isaiah 50:10(NIV)
As a teenager, I used to worry about everything. My doctor said I was at risk of ulcers if I didn’t learn to cope better with my stress. He said I should stop reading the newspaper and watching the news because they were too depressing.
Recently, a friend of mine said I should become as driftwood. Instead of being dragged, kicking and screaming, through life; I could be as driftwood, living life on life’s terms. I could go with the ebb and flow of my daily life. This appealed to me on a very spiritual level. It all came down to trust … trust in God. I had to learn to turn my life and my will over to the power of the Lord.
Dear Lord, help me to grow in trust. I long for You to take the lead in my life. For this I pray, in Jesus name. Amen.
Thought for the Day
How can I become like driftwood?
Trusting in the Lord.
