I believed in the minister, the minister of God -
Steadfast and sure was his stand.
I knew for certain the unholy forces
'gainst our minister could never prevail.
Broken was I when the minister fell -
His shame was so hard to bear.
I cried bitter tears and moaned bitter words
'gainst that minister's horrid betrayal.
But the LORD'S simple truth I could not dispute
when HIS question answered my cry:
"Why,” said the LORD, “should your pain be so great . . .. It is I, not the man, who still stands."
