Ignorance is bliss,
Or so they say,
Darkness impedes progress,
Ever veiling their way.
People perishing for lack of knowledge,
So it is that we believe,
But is it now something more sinister?
Something not spoken, something not seen.
Reason and logic promise answers,
They masquerade as solace and peace.
They eliminate what was once left to faith,
Not realizing our time is but a footnote amidst eternity.
Show them the fault of their ways Lord,
Reveal the idol of self for what it truly is;
It is the vanity of vanities,
Striving for relevance, greatness within this temporary mist.
Pride and self grow and expand,
Leaving little room for you to dwell;
Life everlasting is before them,
Yet vanity continues to lead away from the well.
Have mercy on them Lord,
For they truly do not know what they do;
They find themselves amidst dark shepherds,
Just as your Word said it would come to.
Holy Spirit dwell within us,
We that heed your voice;
May we walk amidst this darkness,
Your flame igniting as we rejoice.
Breaking chains and bondage,
The demons surely flee.
The last obstacle left in their paths,
Is their will, their I, and their me.
