My first attempt at writing a devotional.
Please Read the Instructions

My husband has an automotive repair shop and quite often a customer will come in with a car door that isn’t working right. Maybe the window won’t go back up or the door handle is broken, or some other problem. Well, in order to fix the door you must first remove the door panel. These days the screws or buttons for the door panels are hidden from view. If you don’t know where to look for them, you could end up ruining the door panel trying to remove it. Each make and model has different ways of fastening their door panels. Some hide the screws under a round button. Other use push in door fasteners, and still other have resting tabs that you slide the panel down onto; others use a combination of these methods. So you need to know which method was used by the manufacturer for each model.

Thankfully, there are auto repair manuals; hard copy book forms or computer generated manuals that will tell you exactly how many screws or tabs there are and exactly where they are located. Reading the “instructions” before you tackle the project will save you a lot of frustration as well as expense, should you have to replace a broken panel. Of course, this is true for any automotive repairs you may be doing.

You have probably heard the saying many times “if all else fails, read the Instructions”. You no doubt have tried to put something together or repair something without reading first and then had to humbly read the instructions after failing to accomplish the task without it. The manufacturer knows how its product goes together because they have made or produced the item.

So it is with God, our manufacturer. He made us and knows exactly how we were put together. He knows our hearts, our desires, our weaknesses, our strengths, and everything about us. But he has not left us without “instructions” for living our lives. Without those instructions we can make a mess out of our lives and have a hard time putting the pieces back together. II Timothy 3:16 says “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”(KJV).

If you feel like you have failed in areas of your life, never fear; you can still read the instructions. Just pick up the Bible containing the Word of God and begin to read His instructions for your life. It’s all in there and you even have a personal tutor when you come to Him in prayer as well.

Don’t live another day without God's personal instructions to help you put together the life God has planned for you.
