Cape and Costume Optional
Since you have spent your hard earned money to purchase this book, I will assume that you want to be a superhero in the Kingdom of God. I too have always had this desire to be a hero, maybe not of faith but a hero nonetheless. It all started when I got my first comic book, Spiderman. I devoured that comic until it fell apart then I bought more. I watched television shows like Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Superman, and of course Spiderman.
Like most little kids I wanted to be a superhero. I had the bed spread cape, a mask made of an old tee shirt, and a secret hideout in the tree in my back yard. Also like most little kids, As I grew older I realized that it just wasn’t possible. That was when my heroes changed.
As a young man who grew up in a Christian home, I learned of other “Superheroes.” Men like Moses, Noah, David and the Apostles. These were heroes that I could be like; except well, I wasn’t like them. I didn’t see God use me in great ways. No miracles or things worthy of writing about happened in my life. I was a normal equable Christian. I wasn’t even sure those things were possible anymore. Then I began to hear of some more current “heroes”.
Men like Billy Graham, Billy Sunday, Spurgeon, Smith Wigglesworth, Benny Hinn, and others. But of course those men were special, or so I was told. Not everyone could be used like them. Be content by being used by God like a “normal” Christian. So for years I gave up on my dream of being a “Superhero” for God.
Then during my late teen/ early adult years, something happened that changed all that. I heard a song by the group Christian contemporary group 4-HIM that talked about how they wanted to be men God would write about in a thousand years. The kind of Christian that made a difference in a big way, and I realized I was not alone in my desire. It took me another twenty years to discover the secret of how to become that kind of man. It has changed my life.
I found the answers to how to become one of those “superheroes of the faith” that have been written about both in and out of the scriptures. Ever since finding those answers I have been putting them into practice in my life and Ministry to amazing results. I want to share them with you and encourage you to use them as well.
Together we’ll learn how to become a superhero of the Kingdom of God. Because there is that part of me who never outgrew my love of superhero movies, television, and comics, I’ll use them as the framework of what I want to share with you from Scripture. Besides looking at the comic heroes, we will also spend our time studying some of the heroes of the Bible.
In their lives and the words of Christ we will find the secret of how to be a Superhero for God. We’ll look at is awakening your superpowers, explore how to use them and when. We’ll look at the costume of the Spiritual Superhero. Also, how to answer the call of the Superhero. Working with your Superfriends, as well as figuring out who is your nemesis.
Also no superhero instruction manual would be complete if we didn’t talk about the secret lair, and of course, the ever present superhero weakness. By the time we finish this book, we’ll know the basics of being a hero in the Spiritual world. With this book you can start operating in protecting your Spiritual territory and even help other fledgling superheroes get started in the battle.
So if you’re ready, climb into the Batmobile with me. But first it’s okay go ahead and slip into the linen closet and grab yourself a sheet to use as a cape. Cut a mask out of an old tee shirt and get in the mood for the adventure of a lifetime. Are you ready? As Robin used to say: “Atomic batteries to power and Turbines to Speed.”
