I followed the ravine to the bottom and knew I needed to turn right and go until I found the old fir tree that had been hit by lightning years ago. Once there I looked for the tree with the pile of three rocks set in front of it. I am so filled with excitement I can hardly breathe. The anticipation is almost unbearable. There it was the three rocks, just as I remembered. I removed them and took my shovel and removed leaves and sticks until the earth was laid bare. Carefully I pressed the shovel into the ground bringing up clods of hard packed soil and placing them in a pile beside the deepening hole.
Foot after foot I dug down into the earth until the shovel struck something solid. Excitement grew as I took the end of the shovel and pried the heavy boards loose and lifted them from the hole. There it was the metal box hidden under the boards. I reached down and pulled it out of the hole. I can feel my heart beating in what seems like a thousand miles an hour. The box was cold to my touch as I pry the small lock off it. There it was, a breathtaking array of jewels, worthy to be a king’s ransom, glittering in the sunlight. The police had searched long and hard for this hidden treasure but here it was I who uncovered it. What I had hidden was unearthed and brought to light.
It is possible to hide our deeds from the eyes of man but not from God. The hidden thoughts and intents of our heart are in the full view of God, whether they are good or evil. As He searches the depths of our minds and as He understands every motive, may He discover only that which will bring joy to His heart. All our acts, however secret you may think they have been, are open to your heavenly Father. Nothing is hidden, nothing covered. Heb 4:13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and he is the One whom we are accountable.(NLT)
