FORGIVENESS

Dean Herring. deansim1@yahoo.com.au

Who would you rather live with?
Grumpy, Angry, Snivvelly, Resentful, Frustrated and Sulky!..Or…
Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc.

A Good Morning. This is the previously unknown sequel to the story of snow white and the Seven Dwarfs.
B Greedy, Lusty, Envy…
A Um…I think those are the seven deadly sins.
B Oh…yes, so they are! Oops!…Dwarfs, ah, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc.
A That’s good! Do you know Santas Reindeer?
B Well not personally, but I believe they’re called Blitzen, Comet, Dancer, Prancer, Cupid, Donder, Rudolf, Blunder, Spitzen, Stupid, Fancy, Pantsy, Vomit and Ugly.
A That’s too many!
B Reserves!
A Ah…I see! Back to the story!
B The sequel.
A Yes…Snow White of course lived happily ever after, which is really quite boring and not much of a story at all…but the dwarfs…
B Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc.
A …Were another story altogether.
B Another story!
A No. This story, just not happily ever after.
B Except Happy!
A No, well that was the problem. Happy woke up one morning,
B As usual.
A Dressed and went to breakfast,
B As usual.
A He cheerfully cleaned up after Dopey poured milk on his toast and put weetbix in the toaster,
B As usual.
A Sneezy sneezed his cornflakes all over Doc, and Grumpy gave Bashful an earful.
B What about Sleepy?
A He’s still in bed.
A&B As usual.
A But this particular day he was still in bed when it was time to go to work, which is unlike any of the Dwarfs who all love their work!
B Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work we…etc. etc.
A Doc took Sleepy’s temperature,
B Normal.
A His pulse,
B Normal.
A His Blood Pressure
B Normal.
A Unlike Happy’s, whose middle name is Punctual. As their chances of getting to work on time slipped by, the famous smile started to slip from Happy’s face.
B (Shock Horror) Happy’s not Happy?!!
A No and in this situation, like most families, it set off a quite spectacular chain reaction.
B Happy is Grumpy?!!
A Yes and as we know two grumpies makes one angry.
B Grumpy is Angry?!!
A Grumpy’s Angry and yells at Sleepy, Sleepy gets Snivvelly and blames getting sick on Sneezy. Sneezy becomes Resentful and says Doc got his hayfever prescription wrong. Doc is Frustrated and gives poor Bashful another earful. Bashful turns Sulky.
B So we’ve got Grumpy, Angry, Snivvelly, Resentful, Frustrated and Sulky!…What about Dopey?
A Dopey’s got no idea!...Actually that’s not fair. Dopey never was as silly as he looked, he just took a bit longer to make his decisions and to react, which, on this particular day turned out to be a very fortunate thing.
B Dopey saves the day!!!
A Well Yes. There’s hope for you yet!…When Sulky called him a ‘good-for-nothing-moron-who-always-was-one-sandwich-short’, instead of becoming Defensive, Dopey simply checked his lunchbox and was Forgiving!
B Grumpy, Angry, Snivvelly, Resentful, Frustrated, Sulky and Forgiving!
A Faced with that Dopey forgiveness, Sulky turned bright red and back into Bashful. Sleepy, Sneezy and Doc gave each other a big hug and Happy couldn’t help but smile.
B What about Grumpy?
A Grumpy will always be Grumpy but at least he wasn’t Angry any more.
B So they all lived happily ever after?
A No, they had their good days and their bad days but they always remembered, Even if it is Dopey to forgive, who would you rather live with?
B Grumpy, Angry, Snivvelly, Resentful, Frustrated and Sulky!…
A …Or…
B Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc.
A The End.
