I wrote this for my junior high church youth group and they placed first in competition with other churches. I used their Word of Life Lesson plan for this skit to encourage their weekly lessons. I was excited to see it's effect on the audience.
Absolutely No Fear
A spiritual warfare Drama
Louise Ann Ross
Scene: Carlie, a teenage girl sits in a chair center stage, covered in black. She is in bondage to fear, very distressed and depressed about her life. She doesn’t care if she lives, yet she’s afraid to die.
She has an unsaved boyfriend, Aaron, and a saved backsliding best friend, Sara. Sara is constantly trying to drag Carlie into trouble.
Carlie has chains draped over her shoulders that are to be tied to six blocks bearing the names of sins that have her in bondage- Immorality, Popularity, Ungodly Music, Drugs, Doubt, and Fear.
Satan begins stage right speaking directly to Carlie, reinforcing her negative feelings about herself. He moves all around the stage while speaking to Carlie. Satan is dressed all in black.
The characters speaking God’s Word form a half circle around Carlie, leaving the front of her exposed to the audience. God’s Word are dressed in complete white. God is dressed in a white robe. (something that makes Him stand out from God’s Word characters. God speaks directly to Carlie, standing next to her on her left.
The characters of Aaron and Sara do not speak directly to Carlie at first, but walk to front of stage being careful not to block audience’s view of Carlie. They are directing their voices to the audience as part of Carlie’s memory of their behavior towards her.

Today we will be presenting a spiritual warfare drama entitled, “ABSOLUTELY NO FEAR.”
Carlie: Why is life so lonely? I feel so empty. I failed that important math test, with only one chance to make it up. What if I don’t do well? Life is so hard… I just want to give up.
Satan: Yes, why don’t you give up Carlie? You’re useless, worthless. It’s all just a waste of time. (Satan moves to stand behind the circle of God’s Word.”
God: Carlie, what do you know about Satan? “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (11Corinthians 11:14) Before you were saved, “Ye were of your father the Devil, and the lusts of your father ye did. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44) You are my child now Carlie. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36) Who will you obey, Carlie?
Carlie: I don’t know…I mean, I know I was saved the summer I turned ten, but sometimes lately, I’[m so afraid.
God: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3) Who are you trusting, Carlie?
Carlie: I trusted and accepted you when I was ten. It was wonderful, but I am older now. Things are different somehow…more complicated, and sometimes confusing. My boyfriend, Aaron and I fight all the time.
Aaron: Carlie, grow up! Everybody’s doing it. You know how much I love you and I want to prove it, but you Little Miss Morality…..
God’s Word #1: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” (11 Corinthians 5:17) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves for all filthiness of the flesh, and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (11 Corinthians7:1)
Carlie: Sara, my best friend is so popular. We’ve been best friends since the first grade. We even got saved the same summer.
Sara: Oh come on Carlie! You need to grow up,. You’re not a kid anymore. Just try some of these. (Sara offers some drugs to Carlie) They’ll make you feel better; you know…calmer, more peaceful. They’ll give you power and control.
God’s Word #2: “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,” (Ephesians 1:11)
Carlie: If I don’t listen to Aaron and Sara, I’ll be left out. I’m afraid of loosing them.
God’s Word #3: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.” (Proverbs 29:25) “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29)
God: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” (!! Timothy 1:7) Carlie, where is the spirit of fear coming from? “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour” 1 Peter 5:8)
Carlie: Where is it coming from? I feel trapped with no way out. Doomed…My body bound…Unable to move.
God’s Word #4: “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage of fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15)
Arlie: My parents are always on my case about my music. They say it depresses me. I’m afraid of loosing their love. Can I feel safe again? Where do I go for my help; to get to where I need to be?
God’s Word #5: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)
God’s Word #6: “And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand…( God reaches to Carlie) and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:31) “Therefore being justified in faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
Carlie: Dear God, how I did doubt and go astray. (sobbing, Carlie pleads for forgiveness) Forgive me, for I have taken my eyes off from you. Here I am, broken; teach me to keep my eyes on you.
God’s Word # 7: “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; fear before Him, all the earth.” (Psalm 96:9)
Carlie: Yes, “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11) Teach me to keep from temptations.
God: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)
Carlie: Yes, the armor Lord. (Carlie bows her head to pray, and puts on the armor of God) I put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the gospel shoes of peace, the shield of faith, and the sword of the spirit; praising and thanking you (Carlie looks up and sees God, who has been standing with hand outstretched to her. She takes his hand and stands to her feet, dropping all signs of darkness and is now in ordinary clothing) for this protection against Satan, the world and my old nature.
Aaron: (Speaking directly to Carlie) Carlie, there you are. I just stopped by to tell you about the party I’m having tonight at my house. Anyone who is anyone will be there. It starts at 7:30 and ends when the last wasted body passes out. My parents will be gone for the whole weekend, so you can spend the nights with me. Just tell your parent’s you’ll be staying at Sara’s. Pretty cool, hug? I’ve got it all figured out.
God: “”Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and the power of his might.” (Ephesians 6:12)
Carlie: No Aaron…not anymore! I’m sorry, but we have to break up.
Aaron: What’s going on here?
Carlie: Wait Aaron, let me finish. I know why I’ve been so unhappy lately…
Aaron Hey look, I can tell you why. I’ve been telling you that you need to lighten up. Don’t be so uptight all the time. I’m glad you’ve finally come to your senses. This party is just what you need.
Carlie: Aaron, I’m trying to tell you something! I’ve been leading a double life. There’s something you don’t know about me, and maybe you won’t understand…
God “Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up.” (James 4:10)
Carlie: Aaron, I am a Christian. At age 10 I accepted Jesus as my Savior and I promised to live a life for Him. I’m not going to your party, because I don’t want to. I’ve been trying to hold on to you by doing things I know are wrong, and I’m not afraid anymore.
Aaron: So what are you saying? You’re not coming to the party? No big deal; there will be other parties.
God’s Word #8: In whom the god of this world hat blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of
Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (!! Corinthians 4:4)
Carlie: No, Aaron!! Listen to me!! I am saying that it is over between us, and I want you to leave , NOW!
Aaron: O.K., I’m leaving, but I’ll call tomorrow, and if your attitude hasn’t changed, it’s over between us!
Carlie: (Shaking her head in disbelief at how dense Aaron is) And I was afraid of loosing HIM? What was I thinking?
Sara” Hey Carlie, what’s up? I just saw Aaron on my way here, and he said you aren’t coming to the party. He’s joking, right?
God: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he; Eat and drink, saith he to thee: ;but his heart is not with thee. (Proverbs 23:7)
Carlie: No Sara, it’s no joke. I broke up with Aaron, and no, I am not going to this or any other party. You and I are suppose to be Christians, Sara.
Sara: Well, sue, Carlie, but what’s that got to do with Aaron and the party?
Carlie: Everything Sara. You’[re my best friend, and I’m worried about you. Are you really happy drinking and taking drugs?
Sara: Well, yeah…sometimes…Well at least when I’m high I’m happy. Look, I don’t want to be the geek at school. Do you? I’m finally part of the in crowd. I know what you are saying…I feel guilty too…sometimes, but it’s the price we pay for popularity.
God’s Word #9: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (Revelation 12:11)
Carlie: So Sara, guilt is the price you pay for popularity? What about the price Christ paid for our salvation?
Satan: Smart move Carlie. Now you’ve lost both Aaron and Sara! You had it all, but now you blew it. You really are a looser! Why don’t you end it all now? Your life is not worth living! Go on Carlie, do it! End it NOW!
Carlie: No Satan! NO MORE! “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day thou wast created, til iniquity was found in thee.” (Ezekiel 28:15) “How art fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nation; for thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” (Isaiah 14:12-14) No Satan. I know where you stand with God. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command you to flee!! (Carlie walks forward and backs Satan away and he flees on her command. She picks up a hand mirror and looking at herself) “I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knowest right well.” (Psalm 139:14)
