TITLE: out of sight, not out of mind

Out of Sight
Not out of Mind

One of the biggest flaws in a persons thinking is that if something is out of sight it is out of mind. If we donít see it, then it will have no impact on my life. Wrong!!!!! I am tired of seeing GOOD people fall because they are not truly delivered from a sin or bondage in their life. You can take alcohol away from a alcoholic, but that doesnít make him sober. Heís just a dry drunk. You can take pornography away from someone battling with wrongful sexual desires, but that doesnít mean they have deliverance from that lust. Out of sight is not out of mind!

As the director of a Christian after care program for drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, pornography, and many other bondages, I have found the reason why men of God continue to fall when they seem to be so strong, and it is called DENIAL. Denial is the number one killer of Christian men. The devil knows as long as he can keep us pretending like there is no real problem, he can eventually use it to bring about our demise and make a mockery of the kingdom of God. But why do we deny it when we truly donít want it? Why is it so hard for us to admit a sin or bondage when the Word of God says that confession is the beginning stage of healing (deliverance)?

As Christians we put such high expectations on each other, especially leaders, that it is almost impossible to find deliverance in the church. Church is not supposed to be a place that people go to AFTER they are delivered. Church is supposed to be a place that people go to FOR deliverance to take place. Church is the place where we get together so that the power of God can heal us of our infirmities (Matthew 18:18-20). Heal us of our stinking thinking that has been programmed into us by the devil through the world. Heal us from the desires of the flesh and learn the desires of the Spirit. A place of confessing and praying for each other. But it isnít! As Christians we have got to stop shooting our wounded because we are all wounded!

Every man that has ever fallen away from God is a direct result of not being able to find deliverance in the church. Instead of confessing and facing the enemy with our wrongful desire in the church, we hide it and pretend like it is not there. We think as long as we avoid situations where that desire can be brought up in us we are okay and it is not a problem. We think if we donít have it around us anymore, the sin has no power in our lives. This is why we lack any true POWER of God in our lives. Avoidance is not the answer for deliverance!

Now I know you canít find deliverance from alcohol in a bar or deliverance from pornography in a brothel. But if you canít step foot in either of them because you are afraid of what it will bring up in your life, then YOU ARE NOT DELIVERED. True deliverance only takes place when those desires have NO impact on your life anymore in any degree. But how can we do this? How can we break the hold of that desire once and for all?

James 5:16 ďConfess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye MAY be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.Ē
There is a process that has to take place for true deliverance to happen. First God wants us to confess our fault one to another. Confession puts the healing process is in full motion, but it doesnít stop there. God then wants us to pray for each other about the desire. Confession breaks the STRONGHOLD of that desire and prayer EXPOSES the many facets of its hold. We must replace the wrongful thinking with the TRUTH of God (Luke 11:24-26). The binding specific petition to God about a fault allows God to show us everything about that fault. With a fault COMPLETELY exposed, true deliverance can take place. Once it is exposed we must be willing to face it and break down its power. Facing it allows God to teach us how to take that wrongful desire of our flesh and learn to understand that desire through His Spirit. For instance. For a man to desire to have relations with a woman is not a wrong desire. God put that desire in us. It is the motive behind that desire that determines its intent. Flesh or Spirit. God must teach us how to have that desire His Way so the devil will no longer have an upper hand with that desire in our lives.

God must get His people to a place of COMPLETE deliverance in our desires. Show us how He intended those desires to be. When we are in a place of confidence in God that no matter where we are, whatís going on around us, or who is around us, no longer has an impact on Godís ability to minister to another, is when true deliverance has taken place with a desire. When we can face our enemy and not hide from that desire anymore, is when others will see the true deliverance of God. When we can be around people that are smoking, or drinking, or dressed inappropriately, or cursing, and it has no impact on us whatsoever, is when God will be able to minister to those who truly need His deliverance. We will be like Christ. A Christian. Jesus sat and ministered to the sinners at their worst. Their lifestyle had no impact on his. His lifestyle had an impact on theirs. What about you?

Stop avoiding, hiding, and denying the desires and confess, pray, and face them. If you canít confess, pray, and face them in the church you are in now, then find a church where you can. If you donít confess, pray, and face them now, they will one day be exposed and make a mockery of you, God, and His kingdom.
