Galatians 5:22
But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.
We are known by the fruits that we bare, so bare good fruit. When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, these virtues will be visible. Every individual should strive to obtain these attributes, especially the Christian.
These nine qualities are an essential part of our Christian character and are the standards of which we are judged by the world. I guarantee, if you are lacking in love, self-control, kindness, or patience, the lost will be the first to notice. These fruits are expected. How can we be effective witnesses or lights to the sinner, and lack in the spiritual fruit department?
Examine yourself. What are some of the adjectives you would use to describe yourself? Does this list consist of the fruits of the Spirit? In what areas are you lacking? Patience, self-control, or joy? Most Christians do have love for one another, but may have problems exercising self-control, emitting joy, or controlling anger.
Pray to possess good fruit. Ask the Lord to make strong the weak areas and make every effort to do better.
