To Thee,
O Lord,
I lift up
my soul.
[25:1]
******************
"I'm tired, Lord."
"Yes,
child."
(Squint up at ceiling.)
(Stare at a molecule
in the air.)
[SILENCE.]
(Sigh.)
"It's been a long day."
[PATIENT NOD.]
(Close eyes.)
(Lean forehead on palm.)
"But....
I bet,
it's been a
longer day...."
[GAZE DOWN AT THE EARTH.]
[CARESS THE FACE OF A
YOUNG AMERICAN SOLDIER,
FAR FROM HOME AND IN PRAYER.]
(Look up at the ceiling.)
"For those guys*,
overseas."
[A TENDER BREEZE
BLOWS ACROSS THE
TOMB OF THE UNKOWN
SOLDIER.]
**********************
Though a host
encamp
against me,
my heart
shall not fear;
though war
arise
against me,
yet
I will be confident.
[Psalms 27:3]
*Men and women.
