"Come follow me, Jesus said," and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19
A picturesque lake the sun shinning and glistening from above silence as you sit in your chair lounged back enjoying the serenity of the wonders of God. You drop your line in, hook dangling in the deep … nothing; wait was that a tug, again a slight nudge on your line, then a stronger tug, and gradually you begin to reel it in. Then there it is your prize fish, or maybe it is a guppy, but nonetheless it is your fish and there is no throwing it back. You are jubilant, so self-confident and refreshed.
Now come with me back to the same scene: A picturesque lake the sun shinning and glistening from above, silence as you sit in your chair, lounged back enjoying the serenity of the wonders of God. Someone's passing by; you exchange your niceties. You drop your line in, hook dangling in the deep … nothing; the person sits down with you, wait was that a tug? Again a slight nudge on your line, then a stronger tug, as you share the wonders and glory of the Lord, and gradually you begin to reel it in. The person is filled with tears. They ask for forgiveness. Then there it is your prize fish, or maybe it is a perfect guppy young in the waters of salvation, but nonetheless it is God's fish and there is no throwing it back. You are jubilant, so self-confident and refreshed. What a sensation sharing the emotion of God's perfect love. Knowing that you are truly a fisher of men. Drawing God's loved ones near.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for allowing me to take part in bringing people to salvation. Open the doors for me; is there someone I have not noticed, just waiting, for me to share the knowledge and pure love of you. Open my eyes today allow me the opportunity to share the gospel.
