Poetry
I once swam in a lake
that was very deep and wide.
I couldn't see the shore
to the left or right side.
My head when under this water
dark, dank, and rank.
I choked, sputtered and treaded
so as not to sink.
I could no see the bottom
but felt pulled from below.
I could barely keep myself afloat
refusing to let go.
After looking to all sides
I began to realize.
I shook my hands clean
to wipe the muck from my eyes.
No longer looking around or about
instead I looked above.
Flying overhead
was a beautiful white dove.
He spoke to me so softly
that I could hardly hear.
Because of all the gossip
embedded in my ears.
He said,"Take hold of me,
I will fly you out.
I will lovingly lift you
from this sea of doubt.
The lake that you are in
is filled with deadly sin
Hold on to me tightly
and you will never drown within".
I shook off all the sin
that I could remove.
As I touched his feathers
his purity began to sooth.
All the marks and wounds
slowly began to fade.
I am still holding on to him
with my Savior my soul will stay.
