The things we can learn by making
A patchwork quilt my friends
Are all about God’s love and grace
In the message that it sends.
With each hand cut square it shows
How different we each can be.
But when they’re all sewn together
Oh what beauty we can see.
Each square different and imperfect
Is what makes them so unique.
Each a beautiful work in progress
Like you and I are as we speak.
Woven through the many pieces
Is the hope we need to get through.
When life gets so confusing
And is overwhelming me or you
To give God’s quilt the weight
And warmth that it does need
Are the layers of our lives
That He helps us to complete.
Drawn securely in the center
Of each and every square
The single thread of love holds tight
All those layers if God is there.
So let Him into your life
Let Him touch your heart too.
Let Him cover you with God’s quilt of Love
That He has made just for you.

Tammy, I come from the Puritan line in New England. And I remember the women in my childhood making patch work quilts. I have one made for me by my great grandmother some 65 years ago. And so does God with our lives. Thank you for the memory.
