I posted this several years ago but since Mother's Day is almost here again, I thought I would post it again.
In Isaiah 49:15-16 the Lord represents His great love for us in comparison to a nursing Mother:
“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;” (KJV)
A Mother’s Day Poem
“Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take.”
When I was but a young child,
My Mother taught me this prayer.
She was never short of compassion,
When I had a bad nightmare.
Mothers have that special touch,
That soothes, when things go wrong.
Mothers give us life and love,
And lift our spirits with a song.
Her hands may toil day and night,
For her children to provide.
We never understood in our youth,
Things to herself she has denied.
She’d even give up her own life,
To save her children, if required.
There’s no greater love than this,
A Mother’s love is un-expired……
Does this remind you of someone else,
That gave to us sacrificial love,
Who spared not His only Son
To give us life eternal above?
The Lord created our Mother’s,
With His own special touch.
His tender mercies were given to her,
For He knew we’d need them so much.
Blessed are you, our Mothers,
We give thanks to you today.
For giving us your Mother’s love,
And nurturing us along life’s way….
Happy Mother’s Day to All the Mothers Out There!
