School Graduations are usually held during the months of May, June and December of each year. After writing about the Crucifiction and the Resurrection last week, it seems only natural to write about 'Graduation to Heaven' this week.
A dear friend of our's Ernest Mosely (who is facing death) wrote this touching note while going through many chemo treatments.
"But the Lord sustains me by causing long-known Scriptures to take on fresh new meanings. Last night, He fixed my attention on 'I am going there to prepare a place for you. I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am'. (from John 14)
I am on the present-tense side of the time-line. 'Am going' has changed to 'have gone'.
Soon and very soon, He is going to take me where He is. I don't think about the geometrics of Heaven, the number of rooms, the 'cabin' in the corner of Glory-land or all the people whose presence there (nor absence) will surprise me.
I just care about being where He is, bowing before Him and worshiping Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
My song in the night has become...
"Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain....."
Pray that however the transition from flesh to spirit occurs, I will bring glory to the Savior in the way I bear the pain and complete the passage."
~Please remember to pray for Ernest, Vivian and their family during this difficult time.
HEAVEN IS ONE OF THE RICHES OF GOD RESERVED FOR YOU:
In his later years, the great preacher/evangelist D.L. Moody said:
"Someday you will read in the paper that D.L. Moody is dead. Don't you believe a word of it! At that moment, I shall be more alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher, that is all. Out of this old tenement into a house that is immortal."
Heaven will hold no surprises.
We will be there because of Jesus and our faith/trust in Him.
Heaven will be the ultimate fulfilling of God's Promises.
Don't wait until death to prepare. You must prepare now:
~You need to be saved (Romans 3:23 and Isaiah 53:6)
~You can not save yourself (Titus 3:5 and Ephesians 2:8-9)
~God has provided a way for your salvation (I Cor. 15:1-4 and I Peter 2:24)
~You can be saved today (II Cor. 6:2)
~Your part is to repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15; I John 1:12; Rom. 10:9)
~a real place (John 14:1-6 and vs. 9)
~a place of relief and release (Rev. 21:4 and I Cor. 15:50-57)
~a place of reunion (I Tess. 4:13-18)
~a place of rewards..."Well done thou good and faithful servant".
A religion that does not satisfy your heart and soul (in life and in death)...
is worse than no religion at all because it keeps you from finding the true religion!!
This true religion is wrapped up in a Person:
~His Second Coming
HEAVEN IS A PERFECT PLACE (Rev. 21:8-14...18,21)
Every gate is a separate pearl. Pearls are produced out of the suffering of the oyster.
The way into the Pearl of Heaven is the suffering of The One Who was Himself 'The Pearl of Great Price'.
Heaven is a place where many people will be. (Rev. 21: 15-17)
Are you reducing the size of hell and increasing the size of Heaven by your life and witness?
Heaven is a permanent City. (Rev. 21: 19-20 and Hebrews 13:14)
Heaven is like a beautiful garden (Rev. 22)
In the Garden of Heaven, everything we need will be provided.
It will be a City of:
~ perfect fellowship
~ perfect protection
~ perfect provisions
If Jesus had not risen from the dead, I would have some doubts.
Soon I'll be 81 and I am more sure of Heaven each day as I near my 'Graduation Day'.
I'm ready for that day....are YOU ready for YOUR Graduation Day?
In Trina Paulus' book, 'Hope For The Flowers', a caterpillar named 'Stripe' learns that there is more to life than just getting to the top. He is driven by a desire to fly and drawn by the love of 'Yellow' (his mate).
His quest for 'something more' finally takes him into this cocoon where he experiences the freedom of becoming a butterfly.
Emerging from the cocoon, 'Stripe' is free to fly and able to feed the flowers.
He has BECOME 'something more' in order to DO 'something more'....
and in becoming (and doing) he has found the 'something' he sought.
If God can perform this kind of miracle, He can surely perform our miracle when death comes.
When La Moyne was little, her Mom taught her this song:
'Butterfly on painted wing...
Don't you wish that you could sing?
Don't you wish that you could fly...
Like a bird up in the sky?
No, my child I'd rather be
Just what God intended me.
So I'll fly from flower to flower,
Making glad each sunny hour."
La Moyne' Mom was bedfast for 6 yrs. and during that time, La Moyne recorded her Mom singing that sweet song. At Mary's Memorial Service, we played the recording of Mary singing that song, then our 5 gr'children stood and sang that song in honor of their Great-Grandmother. Their Nana had 'Graduated to Heaven'.
