USELESS OR FRUITFUL VINE (Ezekiel 15 / John 15) Part 2
See the vine so widely spreading
See its growth, its circuitous route
Follow it, see where its heading,
Abundant branches, but no fruit.
Ask yourself, is there a reason
For those branches of such shapes
Growing further every season
But never, ever, bearing grapes?
No, those woody branches, never
Though with leaves and bright green shoot,
Have no purpose whatsoever,
Except one – to bear good fruit.
Jesus’ words of startling poignance
Cut into this heart of mine.
Challenging my life’s existence
‘You’re the branch, but I’m the Vine.’
Oh the promise, how amazing,
Think upon these words so true.
‘Remain in me, On me keep gazing
I will then remain in you.’
‘I will feed you, I will nourish,
I will plant my love divine.
I will make your fruit to flourish
For I Am the One True Vine.’
‘Nothing can you do without me,
Simply trust and have no doubt,
It is for my Father’s Glory,
That you go and bear much fruit,’
