When we are going through a dark season, we feel as though it will last forever. Not so! Even though we may be experiencing feelings of 'suffocation' and 'hopelessness', we must embrace the TRUTH that there is a HIGHER PURPOSE for the darkness.
Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies it remains a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." John 12:2
In order for the beauty He has placed within you and I at creation to unfold and emit His fragrance, there are things in us that must die----things of our old nature that try to override and control our spirit.
Think of a beautiful flower. The loveliest one you've ever seen. It was once a seed--one tiny seed that would forever remain just one seed, had it not been placed into the dark soil of the earth, void of sunshine and fresh air.
Above the earth it looked like nothing was happening. Underneath the soil, in the darkness, beauty was in the birthing process. In due season, a little sprout shot forth from the soil, and would, again, in due season produce the most beautiful flower you had ever laid your eyes on.
From it emitted a fragrance so intoxicating, that for awhile, it took all your cares and problems away. And from that one flower came many seeds.
The choice is ours. If we want to be the 'fragrance of Christ' in this world we must choose to submit to the darkness in order for a miraculous beauty, an intoxicating fragrance to be formed and released in and through our lives. (2 Cor. 2:15)
In truth, it is Christ being formed in you and me....His highest purpose for us, his seed.

A good one. It amazing how the Lord used the natural things around us to teach us of the most wonderful spiritual insights. You captured it very beautifully, an encouragement indeed for those of us who are overwhelmed by the weight of earth over our body. Thanks Barbara, and keep on reflecting and sharing.
Wow! This really speaks in my heart today, a very enlightening message of hope for what God can do in us as we continue to remain in Him.
God bless you Barbara and thanks for sharing. In Christ's love, Gloria
Joel Osteen spoke on a similar message in that we are not buried, just planted. And as you have remarked, it is necessary in order to produce the fruit of God's intentions within us. I love your reference to the
"fragrance". This "death" has a purpose, only we're not buried, just planted to be resurrected to "A Higher Purpose". Comforting reminder. The Lord Bless You Barbara.
