I have become concerned of late that we are being defined by our politics instead of by God's standard. I consulted the Bible to see what He would tell us. James 1:27 tells us "Religion that God finds pure and blameless is this:care for the orphans and widows in their distress and refrain from being polluted by the world." Jesus tells us in James 10:27 to "love the lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself." Micah 5:8 instructs us to "act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God." In Matthew 21:22 Jesus tells us to "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." We are God's people. Let's be Christians first brother and sisters, and leave the politics to our elected officials as we pray for them.

Hey Alison! Thanks for the thoughtful and funny critique and private message. I'm glad you liked it.
Wow, you have a great point. Yeah, it's easy to forget that we Christians have a much higher goal than just politics; we're supposed to love people, show them the truth, and tell the good news of salvation. A very good reminder to all christians. This was fairly short but I think I was great the way it is. You have appropriate Bible verses for this, and you could add more if you wanted. Whether you want to make it longer or not is up to you, but I think you could find more to say and build on this. I really liked it! God bless.
