"Well, shut my mouth!" That is a comment that we say when we shouldn't have said something.
"Well, shut my mouth" is a comment we should say before meals or perhaps when we have eaten more than we should have.
I love this verse from Psalm 137:6 "If I do not remember Thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth."
May we be reminded to declare our intention before we eat a meal.
It is as simple as it sounds, "Lord, shut my mouth" (at meal times).
We must remember God before we eat. We must remember that we have an allotment in all things and receive in moderation. We must remember that we control our physical appetites. We must remember to pray the Lord's Prayer, (Matthew 6:11) "Give us this day our daily bread." We must remember to be content in filling our mouth or stomach and not to excess.
I will be bold enough to pray that my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth before I choke down a binge food. I will say to God, "Lord, shut my mouth. Amen"
