You placed a veil between us -
We longed to see Your face
But only one was chosen to
Enter the Holy Place;
The veil was thick as canvas
Opaque, - no misty dream;
We waited with our perfect lambs
And watched the crimson stream.
There came a mighty earthquake;
Deep darkness over the land,
A plaintive call to Heaven,
Pierced side and bleeding hand,
The heavy veil split right in two -
As if a hand of lightning fell
The top down to the bottom
Not done by men - any one could tell.
And suddenly we knew that we
Were welcomed to God’s heart!
We only need to trust His son
And let Him have His part.
No one between! But straight to God
We make our glad petitions
Our hearts became His very own
Leaving this tradition.
I grieve to see some step between
The God Who loved us so.
I wish that I could tell the world -
It’s a thing that they should know.
No one between our hearts and His!
No veil - no man, nothing seen,
We are welcomed to our Father
With nothing in between!
