Gratitude

when things don't turn out as you thought,
when gifts received aren't those you sought,
when expectations let you down,
when your face projects a dismal frown...
GET GRATEFUL!

when you are perched on your pity-pot,
or when you speak, you just whine alot,
when your own problems exceed the rest,
and life looks like one huge failed test...
GET GRATEFUL!

when a small dark cloud surrounds your head,
when hope has faded and you're filled with dread,
when gloom and doom spill from your cup,
when you feel so low that you can't look up...
GET GRATEFUL!

GRAB A PEN AND MAKE A LIST.
LOOK AROUND FOR THE BLESSINGS MISSED.
REACH BEYOND SELF-CENTERED PAIN...
GRATITUDE KEEPS THE SPIRIT SANE...
GET GRATEFUL!

I love your poem, Marsha. You could also have called it "Get Grateful." I think your style is refreshing and the message deeply implanted. The repetition of the "Get Grateful" brings the point home very well....And thanks, too, for your comment on my poem, "What Would You Have Done?"...God's blessings....Helen
