Dare to say ‘Amen’ e’en tho'
Your heart cries out in pain,
And from your eyes the tears flow
Longing for ease again.
Trust Him still, through deep unrest,
God’s way is right, and He knows best.
Dare to say ‘Amen’ although
You’d choose an easier path.
The way He’s chosen you to go
Is steep and dark and hard.
He’ll hold you close as you obey
And follow Him – though dark the way.
Dare to say ‘Amen’ He knows
The cost that there will be.
He went this way, the path He chose
Took Him to Calvary.
See the Man of Sorrows then
Who bowed His heart and said ‘Amen’.
Dare to say ‘Amen’ with all
Who’ve gone this way before,
And now in Heaven before Him fall
In praise forever more.
With all His loved ones you will then
Joyfully sing to Him ‘Amen’.
Dare to say ‘Amen’ its true
This word may stand alone,
But, one day, as you awe-struck view
Him seated on His throne,
‘Hallelujah’ too you’ll sing,
Two words combined of praise to Him.
