Psalm 1265
I overheard a person ask,
“Why would God care if we honor and praise Him,
If He is the highest spiritual being over all things?”
Since You are with me everywhere I go, Father,
I know you overheard the conversation taking place before me.
I stayed silent, listening to the response being given,
which I was very glad to hear the response from other believers.
Thinking back on that, I’ve come up with my response,
and I don’t think it’s too late to give it.
It was Your love, Father, that brought us into being,
Out of Your love, we were created.
The universe and all existence was created from Your Love.
You wanted something good and so it was.
I look around and see all the living things around me.
The birds of the air, the fish in the sea,
and the animals that roam the earth.
You could have given them authority over us, but You didn’t.
You gave them all to us, giving us authority over them.
You crowned man with glory and honor as
You made us in Your image.
For this, Father, I am so grateful.
For this, Father, I give You all honor and praise.
I appreciate the goodness You’ve shown towards
me throughout this life.
Also You knew and know the fate
our sinful nature has in store for us.
Out of compassion, out of love,
You came down from Your throne high above all else,
becoming one of us.
You, Love, became flesh sharing our suffering,
and sacrificed Yourself for that which You love.
You didn’t come to be honored nor to be praised,
Instead You came to be our perfect example of love
through humility and persecution.
Through Your death on the cross our salvation came.
Death lost its sting and became powerless.
Life everlasting is found only in the name Jesus Christ.
This is the biggest and most important reason for me, Father,
that I give you all the glory.
You are my hope, You are my everything.
In these days of trials, when I’m faced with others,
who try to poison my mind,
I wait silently for You, Father, praying for them.
My mind is focused on You, and all that You’ve promised.
I pray for all the others who don’t believe, Father,
May love somehow find a way into their hearts
may it grow and overflow to all.
Let love find a way into all of our hearts, Father,
Reveal to us our areas of weakness,
Reveal to me my areas of weakness,
And let me surrender them all to You.
In my own strength there is nothing righteous about me,
so I need You to live through me, Father.
I ask this in Jesus’name,
Amen.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
